EcoLife - DIY Handyskills & Community Living May 9, 2023 This youth exchange was motivated by participants' curiosity from a 2020 youth exchange hosted at Catfarm. They were deeply fascinated by the solar panels that powered the community, and how they sustained themselves entirely from the Sun's energy. The participants were also intrigued by the organization and management of the community, as well as the human relations practices that helped them resolve conflicts and communicate effectively. Go Grounding May 2, 2023 This youth exchange was a follow-up to the previous two “Go Green Go Gardening'' youth exchanges we hosted at Catfarm in 2019 and 2020. It was inspired by input from several participants who wanted to experience a deeper correlation between permaculture and being grounded and connected to the Earth, as a purpose for this gardening/agriculture practice. Hence, this project focused on combining gardening and mindfulness practices to inspire future generations to lead a healthy lifestyle and be more conscious of the environment. Trash Magic: Youth Exchange about Waste Management Sep 5, 2022 The “Overshootday” is a notion that defines “when humanity has simply exceeded what Earth's resources can provide in 12 months. In 1970, it was recorded in December. In October 1990. Last year, we passed it in August! This year on July 29th… That means, today, we need about 1.6 planets to support humanity’s demand on Earth’s ecosystems. The major consequences of this capture lead to the exhaustion of our planet. Go Green Go Gardening 2 Sep 8, 2020 This youth exchange has been inspired but he participants of the Share your story! Youth exchange we hosted at Catfarm in June 2018. The participants often asked questions about the garden at Catfarm, how we grow our food, and how we get the food from locals that we cook for meals. We realised that many things are unknown to youth, that their connection to nature is missing, and that they are curious about how food is produced and what journey it takes to end up on the table.
